Lynne Carol Handy, 84, of Yorkville, Illinois and formerly of Indiana, Texas, Michigan, Florida and Iowa, passed away November 20, 2022. Lynne was the eldest child in a farm family. She grew up in western Indiana, where the tall corn drove her inward to create fantasy worlds. Lynne was an esteemed writer and poetess. She co-founded Open Sky Poets, a collaboration of poets in the western suburbs of Chicago. Before retirement, Lynne was the Executive Director of the North Texas Regional Library System and later for the Lakeland Library Cooperative in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lynne is survived by her sisters; Kaye Schellenberger and Gale Handy along with several cousins, her children; Jeffrey Lanie, Heather Meimers and Siobhan Murphy, her grandchildren; Ryan Lanie, Brandon Lanie, Jessica Jensen, Jeffrey Krabec, Alexandra Meimers, Ronald Meimers, Brian McDonald, Sean Murphy, and her great grandchildren; Hunter Lanie, Makenzie Lanie, Colton Lanie, Wyatt Lanie, Brandon Lanie, and London Lanie. She was preceded in death by her daughter Morgan Murphy and her grandsons Gideon Breckenridge and Matthew McDonald. She enjoyed reading and politics, but especially loved her two dogs, Schatzi and Bo Peep. There will be no memorial service, as Lynne requested.
